STRESZCZENIE: Transfuzje koncentratów granulocytarnych mogą być pomocne w leczeniu zagrażających życiu zakażeń u pacjentów neutropenicznych. W przeszłości skuteczność tej terapii była ograniczona ze względu na trudności w zgromadzeniu wystarczającej liczby komórek. Postęp w technikach aferezy i podawanie G-CSF w celu stymulacji dawców, spowodowało ponowne zainteresowanie transfuzjami granulocytów. Prezentujemy aktualne dane dotyczące przygotowania dawców, pobierania i przechowywania granulocytów, poprze­toczeniowych reakcji ubocznych i zastosowania klinicznego.

SUMMARY: Transfusions of granulocyte concentrates may be helpful in treatment of life-threatening infections in neutropenic patients. In the past, the effectiveness of this therapy was limited by difficulties in the collection of sufficient number of cells. Progress in apheresis technics and administration of G-CSF for donors stimulation caused renewed interest in granulocyte transfusions. We present current data regarding donors arrangement, collection and storage of granulocytes, posttransfusion adverse effects and clinical utility.
